Tonya M. Jordan, M.C.J., P.I., C.G.

A certified professional genealogist, academic researcher and writer, and private investigator, Tonya M. Jordan also has a Master's degree in criminal justice and is a forensic investigative genetic justice (FIGG) researcher and advocate.

Jordan has provided traditional genealogical research and writing services to clients for over ten years, and has three years of experience solving unknown parentage queries with genetic genealogy. Inspired by the ground-breaking criminal justice work of FIGG pioneers in 2018 and beyond, Jordan completed a master’s degree in criminal justice from Loyola University New Orleans in 2022. Under the supervision of former New Orleans Police Department Chief of Police Ronal Serpas, Ph.D., Jordan conducted and wrote a thorough study of FIGG with the goal of demystifying this complex topic for criminal justice practitioners and the public alike.

Close collaboration between genetic genealogy researchers and criminal justice practitioners is the bedrock of FIGG practice, and Jordan’s combination of practical genealogical skills and academic criminal justice training places her in the unique position of understanding both aspects of this revolutionary investigative technique.
